Just when we all thought we had Facebook figured out, they are changing the rules! New algorithms are being put into place as I type that will determine who sees your posts and when. As a business person or non-profit manager, you do not have the time to worry about what you need to do to be seen by your clients. Our job as social media specialists is to keep up with these changes and make sure your message comes across to your clients in the most efficient and effective way possible.
So, what does this mean exactly? You have Facebook followers. They have told Facebook they like you and want to see your messages. However, Facebook only shows your posts to between 11 and 18 percent of your followers initially. When someone likes, comments on or shares your post, Facebook sees the post as more important or interesting and therefore they show it to a larger portion of your followers.
How do you get the message out? Your goal is to reach as many of your followers as you can without paying Facebook to show your message to people every time you have something to say. There are a few very simple things you can do to get more exposure for your posts.
- Like your own posts. This seems odd but by liking your own post, Facebook thinks they are more interesting and will show them to more people.
- Post material or questions that people can reply to. When people reply to your post, Facebook will show it to more people.
- Post diverse material. Not everyone will like or comment on the same type of material so diversify your messages to ensure more interaction.
Our experience means we know how to get your posts seen by as many people as possible. Reach out to us and let’s talk about how we can work together to make your social media work for you.
