SCAM – Link Farms do NOT Bring You Clients

Link Farm Scam

We wanted to share an email a client received recently. We felt it was important to bring it to the attention of our clients, friends and followers, because it’s like so many other “too good to be true” emails and offers that are out there. You know, those things that people desperately want to be real, because “Wow, if this works it will be so much easier than I thought.”

So, here it is. We’ve changed the name of the company and the name of their “best plan” not to protect the innocent (because they aren’t), but to avoid giving them any undue publicity. Make sure to read all the way through. It is well worth your time!

Hey,

I heard about ScamCompanyNameHere from a friend of mine but was hesitant at first, because it sounded too good to be true.  She told me, “All you have to do is enter your web page details and other members promote your URLs to their social media profiles automatically.  It literally takes 5 minutes to get setup.”

So I figured, “What the heck!”, I may as well give it a try.

I signed up for the ‘Free’ account and found the Setup Wizard super easy to use.  With the ‘Free’ account you have to setup all your own social media accounts (only once though) in order to get started.  Next, I shared 5 other members’ links, which was as simple as clicking a single button. I had to do this first in order to earn “credits” which can then be spent when other members share my links.  Then I added a couple of my own web pages and a short while later started receiving notification that they had been submitted to a list of social media sites.

Wow.  And this was just with the ‘Free’ account!

I was impressed.

It was clear to me that the paid accounts were worth it, so I upgraded to the ‘Valuable Sounding Plan Name Here‘ package (the big daddy!).  With their ‘Lazy’ accounts you don’t have to do any sharing, all you do is enter your own web page details and their army of free users does all the work.

It’s been about 2 weeks now and I’ve received thousands of social media mentions…on AUTOPILOT.

If you’re like me and know good value when you see it, you should definitely give ScamCompanyNameHere a try.

We all know that social media for business is an incredibly important avenue for getting your message out to both current and potential future clients. The more eyes on that message, the more opportunities you have to convert a stranger into a customer. Getting those eyes to see your message requires a strategy, a plan based on that strategy, and the implementation of that plan. To be as successful as possible, it also requires follow up, monitoring, and a willingness to pivot when something isn’t as impactful as you might have hoped.

Just like in the real world, there are no actual shortcuts in the digital world. Or at least, there are none that can truly deliver everything they promise for the low, low subscription price of… you get the picture. Regardless of how many times your message might get repeated by total strangers, it won’t have the impact you want it to because not only are those people strangers to you, they’re strangers to the people they are spamming with the link to your website.

Think about this: If you see a link posted by someone you don’t know, do you click on it without thinking and take for granted that it might lead to something valuable and worth your time? I know I don’t. If it’s been posted by someone I know and trust, sure, I may look at what the link is for, but if it’s from a stranger, shared in a group or community page, I am almost certainly going to just scroll right past it. And if that stranger posts too often, I’m going to end up blocking their posts.

So, why would you put your company’s advertising and reputation in the hands of strangers who are going to post your link only because others will then post theirs, or because they are getting paid to post X number of links Y number of times per day anywhere and everywhere they can? Do you want to give a total stranger the power to represent your business without having control of what they say? Because once they say something X number of times on Y number of websites/groups/page, it starts to become part of your brand. And we all know that once something is on the internet it’s essentially impossible to truly remove it, so what if you don’t like (or even know) what they are saying?

The long and the short of it is this: Your digital presence is valuable and not something you want to sell management of to the lowest bidder. You shouldn’t give up control of your brand in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, someone is going to be gullible enough to trust that stranger.

So, how does working with AlphaPixel Reach differ from the shotgun effect of companies like the one that sent the letter above? First of all, digital marketing is what we do! We aren’t doing your digital marketing in exchange for someone else doing our digital marketing. We aren’t spamming the internet over and over again in order to get in our quota of link posts.

AlphaPixel Reach takes the time to get to know you, your products, and your services. We strive to understand your brand, your style, and your voice so we can create content that speaks as your business. Everything we craft for your social media campaigns is run past you prior to public release in order for you to review and approve it, or even request changes. We aren’t a “plan” that you sign up for on a faceless website that asks for your credit card information. We answer the phone, texts, and emails you send us. We are there when you need us, because we take pride in the work we do for you!

That’s the AlphaPixel Reach difference.
