Marketing Agencies Double as Fire Departments... Sort Of.

Some weeks, we joke that we should apply to the fire academy.

Then we remember we’d never, in a million years, make it. We are nowhere near as dedicated and strong as the men and women who serve all of us when we need them most. We have an incredible amount of respect and gratitude for the firefighters and first responders who truly do that job every day.

But in the marketing world? Some weeks definitely feel like we’re putting out fires.

This week alone, we:

Filmed a client project as it was being boxed to ship out.

Recovered a non-profit Instagram account that had been lost.

Repaired a medical website that suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason…. on a Monday morning.

Revived a business client’s website after outdated plugins caused it to become unresponsive.

Built an entirely new backend section into a website to support capabilities that were not part of the original development plan but suddenly became essential.

Retrofitted a website to meet Google Ads requirements to take better advantage of the Charity dollars available.

Updated a Chamber of Commerce website (not critical but time-sensitive).

Spontaneously trained a nonprofit team to get more fundraising value from their social media channels.

Designed two urgent newsletter templates for clients.

Updated a medical practice website with missing staff information.

None of those projects were on the calendar when the week began.

That’s the reality of running a marketing agency. Sometimes the most valuable work isn’t the campaign everyone sees; it’s solving the unexpected problems that keep our clients’ businesses moving forward.

We love the creative work. We love building brands, designing websites, and developing marketing strategies. But we’re also proud to be the team our clients call when something suddenly breaks, changes, or just has to be done… yesterday.

Here’s hoping next week has a few fewer fires and a little more time for creativity.
